Two day antiques and collectors auction
Wednesday and Thursday 18th & 19th November - at 10am on both days
Hansons forthcoming fine arts and antiques auction on Wednesday and Thursday 18th and 19th November will include a good selection of jewellery.
A hoard of gold coins from a Surrey home is expected to sell for in excess of £10,000, whilst a fine collection of silver from a Nottinghamshire home is expected to fetch strong prices. The market for silver and gold is strong at present.

In the collectors section a fine array of tribal arts from a Staffordshire home are expected to create worldwide interest. It is remarkable what can be discovered within four walls and the collection is representative of traditional art from Africa, Oceania, Asia, the Pacific and the Americans. The tribal lots consigned to the auction represents an unrivalled display of the power of imagination.
Ceramics and glass will include early Derby and Chinese porcelains.

In the pictures section, a collection of paintings from an Alvaston home in Derby includes great Victorian oils on canvas, depicting idyllic old English rural life. Estimates range from £100-2000.
A house clearance from a large home in Sutton Coldfield has consigned a fine array of clocks and furniture.
Highlights in clocks and furniture include a fine William and Mary marquetry longcase clock which has been in the same Nottinghamshire family for over 180 years. The clock is expected to fetch £7000-10,000.
A library of books from a Leicestershire home is expected to perform well.

A fine collection of French faience folk pottery (generically often referred to as Quimper) collected by Mr and Mrs Lavous of Toad Hall, Hampshire is expected to create worldwide interest.
Commenting on the collection, general valuer Mrs Vanessa Savage remarked, ‘the collection is extremely comprehensive and reflects wonderfully the array of French pottery manufactured in across France in the late 19th and early 20th Century’.
French faience refers to a fine grain earthenware decorated with an opaque, tin based glaze. Each piece is completely hand painted. Signed by the artist and completely painted by one person from start to finish, it reflects the individual touches which makes each piece unique.
The collection consigned to auction is particularly representative of late 19th and early 20th century wares. Factories include Angouleme, Blois, Boulogne, Desvres, Gien, Lunneville, Marseille, Nevers and Quimper.
Items in the collection commented Mrs Savage, ‘represent good value for money and epitomise a parochial folk art which is unique to Europe. Antique Quimper is sought after by collectors throughout America and Europe’.
Further entries are invited for the auction with a consignment deadline set on Friday 30th October. Entries for the auction may be delivered to Hansons antique valuation days, held across Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Sutton Coldfield and Warwickshire.
