Country House Auction of antiques in Derbyshire
Country House auction of antiques in Duffield, Derbyshire
Hansons Auctioneers are delighted to announce an auction sale on the premises of the contents of a fine Victorian house in Duffield, Derbyshire
Commenting on the auction which will take place on Saturday 5 September at 10.00am, Mr Hanson, manager of Hansons remarked,'we are pleased to be holding a sale onsite of all the antique contents of a grand old country house.'

The red brick Victorian property known as The Kirkstyles on Wirksworth Road, Duffield, Derbyshire, DE56 4AR dates to the mid 19th century.
Everything within the house will be sold. From silver and jewellery to collectables and ceramics, furniture, clocks, paintings and books, the house will hopefully have something for everyone with lots ranging in value from £10 to £5000.
'We will be selling the contents out of a marquee on the old bowling green, and we will sell contents by room to room. From the large bedroom suites and jewellery upstairs to a fine Charles Archer painting in the sitting room and 19th century Sevres style clock garniture. We will be delighted to give the contents and the Kirkstyles estate a resounding send off.'
The house and surrounding land was the home of a highly respected Derbyshire lady who passed away recently.

Rosalind Winfield had lived at The Kirkstyles since 1963. With a passion for animals and the countryside, Rosalind enriched the lives of many people who were fortunate to know her commented Executor, Mrs V Hedley. The Kirkstyles was a fitting home to entertain guests and the house played host to many games of murder and charades for memorable party nights.
'The joy of a sale on the premises adds value and excitement', remarked Mr Hanson. 'We are pleased to celebrate the collection and share the cherished, once private home of a Lady.
Auctions are a theatre and an atmosphere will certainly be buoyant for a super array of antiques and paintings.
Highlight in the auction will include a rare and large Dutch delft ware vase which dates to around 1730. Very much in the Chinese style, the vase was potted at a time when Europeans could not unearth the secrets of making Chinese porcelain with its wonderful translucency. Instead, the Dutch used a red earthenware body coated with a white tin glaze which we know as delftware which imitated porcelain. The vase which had sat by a fireplace and had been home to the poker and hearth brush (!) is expected to realise £2000-3000.
Other highlights in the auction which mirrored Miss Winfield’s love of dogs include a fine George Armfield oil painting of spaniels fom circa 1880 and another larger oil on canvas expected to fetch £1000-1500. A fine garniture of Sevres style vases are expected to realise £1000-1500 whilst a good Charles archer oil painting in the drawing room will carry a guide price of £800-1200.
A fine Jacques croquet set will carry an estimate of £100-200.
