A rare 210 year find in an Oxfam Shop and potted only ten years after the French Revolution - 19/05/2009
A recent item donated to an Oxfam shop in Ashbourne will be included in Hansons auction on 21 May in Lichfield.

The
teapot is potted in pearlware and is inscribed Ann Piggott 1799. The
inscription perhaps refers to a coming of age or wedding gift.
Although the pot has no lid and has had its spout restored, the pot is
socially interesting. We know the pot was made in Staffordshire but
don’t know the history of Ann Piggott.
Following on from our sale of a rare creamware teapot which realised
£69,000 we expect this pot manufactured during the reign of King George
III to sell for up to £50-80.
Hansons Lichfield auction will be on view on Wednesday 20 May 11am-7pm and on morning of sale from 10am For further detail contact Hansons on 01283 733 988 or email service@hansonsauctioneer
