From a slick silver city
epergne at £3,500 to a rural and charming
pottery cow at £2,500.
Hansons two most recent antique and collectors sales held on Wednesday 27th May and Thursday 2nd June reported some exciting results
Hansons 27th May auction of antiques played host to BBC2 Flog It! and some buoyant results were achieved for sellers.

Lot 24, a fine George IV silver epergne dating to 1827 sold at £3,500 whilst discovered in an Ashbourne farmhouse was a fine pearlware pottery cow which doubled expectations to take £2,500.
Elsewhere lot 145, a good Lange and Sohn gentleman’s wristwatch sold for £4,300. Lot 106, a good George VI specimen gold proof set, from 1937 realised £3,100.
The undoubted highlight for one Flog It! contestant was lot 310, a fine Italian Sorrento part chess set, circa 1910. Estimated at just £60-100 for the programme, five telephone lines in Holland, Germany, Portugal, Spain and France saw the lot competed to £2,200.
A small George Turner titled view of Breaston, oil on canvas sold for £1,800.

The market was certainly upbeat throughout the sale with a record number of bidding cards distributed to buyers.
Out of 847 lots Hansons were pleased to report only 28 lots remained unsold.
‘Extensive coverage on some key lots in the sale created considerable publicity reported Mr Hanson ‘which brought a wave of interest in Hansons sale. The sale was high in tension and buoyant with enthusiasm.’

A week later Hansons were pleased to offer for auction, 900 lots of Jewellery and collectors items:
A farmhouse pottery plate
at £900 to a Dame Elizabeth Frink lithograph
from Shropshire at £1,150.
Hansons Wednesday 2nd June sale had a strong jewellery section alongside some interesting collectables and antiques.
Lot 103, a Victorian gold £2 coin on chain took £500. In all 310 lots, 90% found buyers.

The market was upbeat commented Mr Hanson. Three jewellery buyers had attended the auction from London with one collector acquiring almost 20% of the section.
In ceramics, lot 572, a Dutch pottery plate took £900 whilst lot 741, a brass plaque discovered in Staffordshire and cast as a death plaque to Admiral Sir Edward Codrington from the Battle of Waterloo took £230. Lot 800 and 801, two Dame Elizabeth Frink signed lithograph prints each took £1,150.
Lot 424, a good Moorcroft vase sold for £2,000 whilst lot 336, a Royal Doulton figurine Angela sold for £750.

Hansons were pleased to report a high level of phone interest and online interest in the auction.
